Overview

We are seeking a IT Solutions Engineer who can analyze client environments, define technical roadmaps, and drive infrastructure modernization initiatives. Salary around $120k, potential for up to $140k for right alignment.

This role is less about day-to-day support and more about understanding business goals, assessing existing environments, and translating needs into clear technical plans. You will evaluate client systems, identify risks and gaps, and guide projects from concept through execution alongside implementation teams.

This position offers significant autonomy, exposure to a wide variety of technologies, and long-term growth into strategic leadership responsibilities.

What You’ll Do

• Assess client IT environments including servers, Active Directory, security posture, backups, and Microsoft 365
• Develop infrastructure improvement plans and modernization roadmaps
• Lead technical planning for migrations, upgrades, and standardization projects
• Translate business objectives into practical technical solutions
• Document environments and identify operational or security weaknesses
• Work closely with senior leadership to prioritize and scope projects
• Guide engineers responsible for implementation and execution
• Help improve internal processes, tooling, and alert handling

What Success Looks Like

• Quickly builds understanding of client environments within the first 3–6 months
• Establishes clear infrastructure standards and documentation
• Creates actionable roadmaps outlining where each environment needs to go
• Identifies risks others miss and proposes practical solutions
• Operates independently while collaborating effectively with leadership and technical teams

Required Experience

• Deep expertise with Active Directory administration, structure, and troubleshooting
• Strong background supporting enterprise Windows Server infrastructure
• Experience planning or leading infrastructure upgrades, migrations, or modernization efforts
• Ability to assess complex environments and organize technical projects at a high level
• Strong communication skills and business awareness
• Comfortable working autonomously and driving initiatives forward

Nice to Have

• Microsoft 365, Azure, or cloud migration experience
• Virtualization platforms (VMware or Hyper-V)
• PowerShell or automation experience
• Background working in consulting or multi-environment IT settings
